1. Who we are
FinanceSight is a personal finance and portfolio tracking application. These Terms govern your use of the instance operated by the party that provides it to you ("the operator", "we", "us"). Where you self-host FinanceSight, you are the operator and these Terms are a template you may adapt.
2. Not financial advice
FinanceSight is a **record-keeping and modelling tool for personal use**. Nothing it presents — including forecasts, projections, risk metrics, or AI-generated analysis — is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and nothing here constitutes a recommendation to buy or sell any instrument. Figures may be estimates, delayed, or wrong. **You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.** Seek advice from a regulated professional before acting.
3. Your account
• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. - An email address is **optional**; if you do not provide one, you cannot reset your password by email and will not receive email notifications. - You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell the operator promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Acceptable use
Your use must comply with the [Acceptable Use Policy](/legal/aup). In short: do not break the law, attack or overload the service, or use it to harm others.
5. Your data
The data you enter is yours. Our handling of personal data is described in the [Privacy Policy](/legal/privacy). You can export or delete your data from **Settings → Account**.
6. Availability and changes
The service is provided **"as is" and "as available"**. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app, and continued use after the stated grace period constitutes acceptance.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any financial loss arising from decisions made using the service. The software is distributed under the Apache License 2.0, whose warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability apply (see the `LICENSE` file).
8. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
9. Governing law
The governing law and venue are those of the operator's jurisdiction, to be specified by the operator. _(Operators: insert your jurisdiction here.)_
